The Ringsmiths invite you to try the newest addition to their popular jewellery making workshops.

Learn to create your very own initial pendant in a jewellers wax then transform it into solid sterling silver using one of the earliest techniques of metal forming - sand casting.

In this direct casting method, molten metal directly fills the design imprinted into the surface of sand. This produces a uniquely textured piece, making each cast pendant one of a kind.

Over the course of this 4 hour workshop we will teach you everything you need to know about how to prepare and cast your very own sterling silver initial pendant. You will have plenty of opportunity to practice and test out this variable technique which is safe, fast and versatile.

Each student will be provided with an apron, though we ask you to please wear suitable non- loose clothing (as you would for any other semi-messy art form). For health and safety we also recommend close toed shoes.

With a maximum of six people in any one class, there will be plenty of opportunity for one-on-one interaction with the jewellers.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and more advanced students.

Participants must be 18 or over.

  • We also offer a range of optional extras for your necklace within the class which include:

    - Longer chains up to 30 inches
    - Extra pendants
    - Gold plating
    - Gemstone setting
    - Solid gold

    If you would like to have a solid gold pendant we would make a mould of your sterling silver one created on the day and quote you to have it cast in 9ct or 18ct, yellow, rose or white gold.

    All additional extras can be chosen and paid for on the day of your workshop.

    You will leave with your finished necklace(s) on the day, unless you choose to have gold plating, stone setting, hallmarking or solid gold.
